Description
Photo taken in "The World of Sand" in Algarve (Armação de Pêra) - Summer 2007
The Forbidden City, located in Beijing, was built in the 14th century as the residence for Emperor Yongle of the Ming dynasty. During 500 years it was the home of Chinese emperors and is the world's largest residential palace. It covers 740000 square meters, and was so named because it was off-limits to all, except rulers, their families and their servents. The sculpture presents the architectural ensemble that characterizes the city, the monumental statue of the bronze dragon and the emperor, a divine entity with supreme power.
